I've been doing this for so long that I've forgotten how I originally got started doing it.
Whenever I cook hamburger, pork sausage, or chicken for a recipe, I double the amount and put half in a freezer ziploc bag for later. I mark the outside of the bag with the contents (because sometimes it can be hard to tell frozen cooked hamburger from pork sausage which can result in some interesting meals) and the date so I know which package to use first.
When I'm having one of those days where I forget to plan anything for supper until 10 minutes before Hubby will be home expecting food (which happens more than I care to admit), it's a life saver to be able to pull a ziploc bag of precooked meat out of the freezer, pop it in the microwave for a few minutes to defrost, and add it to whatever I'm making. This is also really helpful right now since taking care of a 4 year old, 2 year old, and a newborn is keeping me pretty busy!

That's a great idea. I've done that in the past but become lazy about keeping up lately. I should start again with holidays coming around the corner. I hope you are busy enjoying your new baby instead of cooking :)
